The season of giving started early with the PEx folks. Although the idea has been running through our heads for quite sometime, we were given just about a week to turn our intentions to actions. I shared the excitement with everyone as we prepare for a memorable day with the kids.
With all our efforts in place, we were able to collect enough for the groceries, rice, school supplies, flip flops and snack for 30 kids. We had a small program that included story-telling and some games. I enjoyed my part in the story-telling: reading and choosing a story, making cut outs for visual aides, and telling the story in front of the kids. It’s like letting the child in me out again.
You should see their faces, watch them smile, and hear their laughter. The kids are really sweet. They welcomed us with a smile. They’ll call you “kuya” with their cheerful voice. They flash their happy smiles for the camera. They even take your pictures. Some kids will make you think they took up Modeling 101. They’ll request you to sit beside them and maybe they’ll sit on your lap. They’ll make you hold their hand with fingers interlocked. They’ll make you hug them. They also hug back. The little love we gave they returned in their little loving ways.
I’m really glad I took part in this. I’m glad I got to meet these guys from PEx. They are quite a good influence on me. I look forward to more activities like this.
